chaos
New York - 2020
We will not stop. And they won’t either. Until justice has been served on their end and freedom served on ours.
This division between people will plant its roots into our cities. And once it grows, it will continue to grow until it dies. And like a dying rose, all it does is dry. The thorns hold position and its beauty turns black. And all you have left are the crisp stale petals and the memory of how you even got this rose in the first place. And this is now New York City; a garden of dead roses deriving from stories of diversity and division. Two words interchangeably used to instigate the animal within us.
New York City; an creature of its own nature. Raw and uncut. Concrete neighborhoods once separated by vibe, style, and social class; are now divided by race and political party. The diversity of this city lost its enthusiasm, only to fall victim to radical left ideologies, making it clear conservative perspectives are not welcomed.
This is New York City; where leaders are causing uproar rather than peace. Where it has become something liberating to burn our flag to the ground. Where we allow our education system to rewrite our history to fit a narrative of white supremacy. Where science is conforming for political agendas and qualified doctors are discredited for exposing this ‘science’. Wearing a mask is submission, control and safety all at the same time. But if you resist and instead exercise your freedom to choose your own safety precautions, you are ignorant or labeled a conspiracy theorist. This is New York City; where we protest for the lives of blacks only if the oppressor is white. Where statistics don’t spark reactions or a push for change, but a black square on social media will acknowledge racial injustice. Breaking glass windows and robbing designer shoe stores will explicate the outrage for police brutality. But arresting these looters is outrageous because they were only stealing for a good cause. This is New York City. A city that was built on minding your own business is snitching quicker than a Karen at Whole Foods.
If you don’t agree with taking the knee, you are racist. If you speak conservatively you are racist. If you stay silent, you are racist. This is New York City; where loving your president turns you into a racist but adhering to holding racial sensitivity classes in the work space is good for the soul. Reparations are demanded if you have black skin and being ashamed and guilty is encouraged if your skin is white. And God forbid we defend our blue…but this is New York City. And colors don’t matter anymore because everything turned stale and black. A garden of dead roses; wounded and broken.
Where did these skewed misconceptions of justice and the mandates that are defining our freedoms intertwine and cause a psychological war on the American people?
