layers
Waves slapping the sand
like a mother scolding her child,
except she is a woman & he is her man.
Drowning salt in his wound
& adding insult to injury,
he sinks deeper with each crashing wave,
her raging momentum,
he is bruised and cold,
& when the water cleanses away,
a new layer forms.
Pristine & untouched,
vulnerable to the sounds
of a resentful woman
who cannot comprehend the aspect of home.
He struggles to leave
while her words just pound,
burying him into fragments of broken rock,
only to be tossed further into her tide
by another woman who cannot grasp security.
